Factory Seconds
Industry & Trade
Definition
Cigars rejected from a brand's regular production for cosmetic flaws or construction inconsistency, then sold unbanded or under a generic label at a discount. Also called seconds or overruns.
Why it matters
Seconds can be excellent value when the defect is genuinely cosmetic, but the category is unregulated and the term is also used loosely by sellers of unrelated cheap cigars.
In context
"The seconds bundle smoked like the real thing with uglier wrappers."
