Machine-Made

A cigar built by machine rather than by hand, typically from chopped or shredded short-filler tobacco measured by weight onto a moving binder, sometimes wrapped in homogenized tobacco leaf rather than a single whole leaf.

Machine-made construction burns faster and less predictably than a hand-bunched cigar because its pieces are smaller and less structurally uniform, which is a large part of why the premium segment has stayed almost entirely hand-rolled even where mechanization would cut costs.
