Press

ConstructionEnglish
Definition
The screw or hydraulic frame that applies pressure to stacked molds. Pressure and duration decide whether a cigar emerges round, softly squared, or sharply box-pressed.
Why it matters
Press settings are a deliberate quality lever: too much pressure tightens the draw, too little leaves a bunch that has not properly set.
In context
"Back the press off a quarter turn - the last batch drew tight."
