Cellophane

Clear sleeve fitted over individual cigars in many non-Cuban boxes. Made from wood pulp, it is slightly permeable, so cigars continue to breathe and age inside it, though more slowly than naked leaf.

Cellophane protects wrappers in a crowded humidor and yellows over years, which serves as a rough visual clue to age.
