Cibao Valley

Definition
The broad fertile valley in the northern Dominican Republic that runs through Santiago and Villa Gonzalez, and the country's main tobacco region. Piloto Cubano, Olor, and San Vicente all grow here, and Santiago holds most Dominican factories.
Why it matters
Nearly every Dominican premium cigar involves Cibao leaf, Cibao labor, or both, making the valley the Caribbean counterpart to Esteli.
In context
"The whole operation, fields, barns and factory, sits within an hour of each other in the Cibao."
