Nicaragua's principal tobacco city and growing region, written Esteli with an accent on the final syllable. Its dark, mineral-rich volcanic soil produces the country's strongest and most peppery leaf, and the city itself holds most of Nicaragua's major factories.

Esteli ligero is the engine behind the full-bodied Nicaraguan style, and its concentration of factories makes the town the practical capital of non-Cuban cigar production.
