Casa Magna
A Nicaraguan-made collaboration between Dominican maker Manuel 'Manolo' Quesada and grower/manufacturer Nestor Plasencia, launched in 2008.
Casa Magna pairs Quesada Cigars, a Dominican-rooted family cigar company distributed via S.A.G. Imports, with Nestor Plasencia Sr., one of Nicaragua's largest independent tobacco growers and manufacturers. Quesada directs the blend and brand; Plasencia grows the tobacco and rolls the cigars at his Nicaraguan factory.
The brand launched in 2008 with a single line - Colorado - built around Cuban-seed Nicaraguan wrapper grown in Jalapa. Its debut vitola, the Colorado Robusto, was named Cigar Aficionado's Cigar of the Year for 2008, an upset that beat more established names and is widely credited with elevating Casa Magna from a single release into a standalone brand within the Quesada portfolio.
