My Father Cigars
The Garcia family's own brand, blended by Jaime Garcia in 2008 as a tribute to his father Jose Pepin Garcia and made at their Esteli factory.
Jose Pepin Garcia, a Cuban roller who had worked in Havana factories, opened El Rey de los Habanos in Miami in 2003 with his son Jaime and daughter Janny. The workshop quickly became the production base for a group of boutique brands, Tatuaje among them, and established the Garcia house style of tightly constructed, full-flavoured Nicaraguan blends. In 2008 Jaime Garcia created the blend that became My Father, the family's own flagship.
The family opened My Father Cigars S.A. in Esteli in 2009, a factory that also carries the brand's name and that grows tobacco on adjacent farms. The portfolio now includes the original My Father, Le Bijou 1922, Flor de las Antillas, La Opulencia, La Promesa and the Don Pepin Garcia lines, with Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial named for the blender.
My Father also manufactures for other companies, including Ashton's La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristobal brands and Pete Johnson's Tatuaje. The company is one of very few to have taken the top annual honour from Cigar Aficionado more than once, and it remains wholly family-owned, with Janny Garcia running the business side. The Esteli factory sits next to family-owned farmland, so growing, fermentation and rolling are handled within a single operation.
My Father Flor de las Antillas Toro
An all-Nicaraguan puro with a rounded box press; consistently one of the highest-rated Garcia-family blends since its 2012 release.
My Father Le Bijou 1922 Torpedo Box-Pressed
Named for Jose 'Pepin' Garcia's father's birth year; the only Le Bijou 1922 vitola offered box-pressed, over a dark Cuban-seed oscuro wrapper the Garcias call 'oscuro.'
My Father No. 1
The Garcia family's own-name flagship, pairing homegrown Nicaraguan filler and binder with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper from Oliva Tobacco Co.
My Father The Judge Grand Robusto
Named for a family friend who is an actual judge; blended by Jaime and Jandy Garcia to run more full-bodied than the standard My Father line. Built from three Garcia family farms - La Bonita in Jalapa, El Pedrero in Esteli, San Rafael in Condega - with the Grand Robusto specifically about three-quarters Esteli leaf. Won the Garcias' third Cigar of the Year title, after Flor de las Antillas (2012) and Le Bijou 1922 (2015).
