Habano 2000

A Cuban hybrid, also written Habana 2000, released in the late 1990s for resistance to blue mold and black shank. It is grown both under shade for wrapper and in the sun for filler, and yields more usable leaf per plant than the varieties it replaced.

Higher yield and disease tolerance made it commercially essential, though some old hands argue it trades a little aromatic depth for that reliability.
