Definition
The separate, gentler aging given to wrapper leaf after its fermentation, usually in smaller bales or cases at controlled humidity. Wrapper is fermented cooler than filler and then rested, often for one to three years or more, to develop color and elasticity.
Why it matters
Under-aged wrapper is stiff, dull, and prone to cracking, so a shop that keeps wrapper long is buying itself both better looks and fewer rejects.
