Definition
The highest Habanos aging designation, using leaf aged roughly five years before rolling. Releases are infrequent, numbered, and small, typically five thousand boxes or fewer.
Why it matters
Gran Reservas are the most expensive standard Cuban releases and function as the reference point against which other aged Cuban programs are judged.
In context
"A Gran Reserva box is a serious purchase and usually a long-term hold."
