Definition
The roller's crescent-shaped, handleless blade, used to cut wrapper and binder to shape and to trim the foot. It is held flat against the board and worked with a rocking motion.
Why it matters
A torcedor's chaveta is personal equipment, sharpened and shaped to one hand, and its edge quality determines how cleanly a wrapper cuts and therefore how tight the seams sit.
In context
"Never touch another torcedor's chaveta."
