The harvest, and by extension the crop year. In the northern-hemisphere cigar belt, seed goes into beds in late summer or autumn, plants are transplanted in the dry season, and picking runs from roughly January into April.

Cosecha years matter because weather varies: a rainy or storm-hit crop can affect a blend three or four years later, when that leaf finally reaches the rolling table.
