The rest period after rolling, during which the wrapper, binder, and several filler leaves in a finished cigar equalize in moisture and their aromas integrate. Factories typically hold cigars in cedar-lined rooms for weeks to months before boxing.

A cigar smoked straight off the roller's table tastes disjointed and often burns unevenly; marrying is why the same cigar is coherent a few months later.
