Growing & TerroirCuban Spanish
Definition
A central Cuban growing region, part of the broader Vuelta Arriba, spanning parts of Villa Clara and Sancti Spiritus. Its leaf is robust and full flavored but coarser than Vuelta Abajo tobacco, and it goes mostly into cigarettes and lower-tier cigars.
Why it matters
Remedios is the historic heart of Cuban tobacco, predating Pinar del Rio's rise, and its leaf still occasionally shows up as filler in machine-made and domestic brands.
In context
"Remedios was growing tobacco commercially long before Vuelta Abajo took the crown."
